Foodie Fun

Mostly I blog about vististo the theatre and stuff like that, but I have had some stonking meals recently so decided I'd mention those, too.

Beckford Canteen

At the start of March, I went to the recently opened Beckford Canteen, in Bath. It's by the small team as the Beckfood Bottle Shop, a few doors up, which is a wine merchant which also offers food.

I treated myself to lunch

'Snack'
 Beef tongue crumpet

Smoked Eel, Leek and Egg Yolk starter

Venison, Pumpkin and Prune Main with
pommes Anna and greens

It was all lovely, and I also took  the opportunity to pop into Bath Abbey, where there was a choir rehearsing some lovely music, plus an exhibition called Threads through Creation, consisting of 12 panels, each depicting a different part of the story from the book of Genesis.

Textile panel with multiple birds and fish

My second foodie treat was further afield - following my trip to see the Ceremony of the Keys, I met up with my friend Lyle   and we went to Hawthorn, in Kew, for lunch.

WHich was extremely nice.

Starter - Artichoke

Second Starter - trout

Main - Beef

Dessert - rhubarb souffle, ginger ice cream

I have to say, the souffle was pretty spectacular!

ANd we have a theatre trip with lunch at Mere coming up at the end of this month!
